Dhavalkumar Mayani has successfully defended his master thesis titled "Machine Learning Strategies for High Performance Contact Simulation“. For this topic Mr. Mayani was co-supervised by scientists of our research group and the pepartment of Fluid Dynamics and Reliability at Robert Bosch GmbH. In his thesis Mr. Mayani developed and evaluated several machine learning models to predict lubricant film thickness and pressure in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) contacts. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model emerged as the most accurate and efficient, outperforming traditional analytical equations and classical numerical solvers. The research demonstrates the feasibility of using an ANN to rapidly and accurately simulate EHL behavior, offering significant time savings in tribological applications.
